With conversation we become
transparent
to self and one another
even so, rather than known

Conversation is symphony. A unison of sounds, harmony, concord of sound and voice.

But art won’t let us go
It won’t take us where we want
It will leave us dumb
Please pass it on.

In writing ask, “What does the poem want to say?” Avoid writing what your rational mind works up.

The force of all living
streams through you and me
a breath not quite a whisper
a wind of the fifty-three sacred dimensions
communion!

I welcome you into my heart
Where do we go
Now that the door is open?
Please pass it on.

reconciliation
after grieving
is now, the now
for moving out past
persuasion and coming together
to enter our common search
Not all seeds grow
All seeds not sown do not grow
What of conversations not held?
What of conversations not
Leading to another conversation?

Fifty years before
the bar it took
me to discover
the reason came
in hugs
Please pass it on.

The question for conversation is How then shall we live—together—on earth? There is a hidden knowing in this question. Some small conversations, if repeated, change how we act in the world. Not just on the world. Also with persons who make the next inhabiting. Every human thing and act starts with a conversation. More small conversations give us a more livable world.

I don’t like the word “sustainable.” It feels to me namby-pamby. Perhaps a word on the level of “livable” is better. I’d like very much to live; be sustained, not so much.
