So what to do with all this material I have been generating?
How to insert it in people’s hearts? The small ways, not the large, for small and local gets it moving.

Already we have been, in our news reports to one another, pointing out what’s the better part of humanity. Sadly, by picking out stories of aberrations. Since we don’t remind ourselves this “news” is an aberration, we begin to think it common. It grows on us. We might not be able to do much about blood and explosions grabbing more attention than a quiet engaging conversation or someone isolating the cause of a disease. We can more often call out our better parts. Tell this story.

Just what is a better humanity? I don’t know. No, I do know. It is just a matter of focusing my attention, then finding words to convey it to you. To remind me.

The only reason we can possibly conceive of a better humanity is that we have seen glimmers of it. So it is possible. We just need to bring it out more often. On purpose.

One thing I can do is to ask people, Do you want a better humanity?
I can ask this question of people I see on the street, at fairs, in theatres, in conferences in the office, and on the phone. Will take a little courage, call it gumption.

Walt thought the body is the soul. I am getting intimations that spirit is meeting: of people.

I want to stretch more into spirit. Spirit, I am seeing, has at least a human element. It is spread wide among us. It is related to meeting. Story is a meeting. Story is a community project. Story starts with someone meeting her or his world, story begins its journey when a person tells another about it. Story builds by accretion and is never complete, though it might be whole.
