Finis now
Fine comes from finis
in this age
the best is now to be
:- Doug.

It does not matter whether this is statistically true. It matters if it is true for you, true for us. Eldering for the grandchildren is a distinctly minority activity. Just by the most important minority—those eldering for the grandchildren.

We have been concentrating on the chaos about us—political and societal. It may be a phase, there may be a more subtle order, there may be a side beyond.
:- Doug.
We have become subtle, finely woven, ethereal, rarefied, elusive, intangible, ethereal, delicate, gossamer, finespun.

Let us propose—
Movement does not require time
Rather time requires movement
It’s not turtles all the way down
It’s all the way down
Enfolding all
Unfolding from all, music
:- Doug.
Our job, that of those of us who help elders, is that we help families through a crisis.

Visit a town and notice all the pregnant young women. I used to see this as a sign of prosperity. That’s because I confused financial prosperity with the something deeper that was going on. The desire to bring forth new life is in fact a sign that people in this place see their world as a good place, promising.

What is the meaning of our society, of life in this country? Is it money or wealth? Is it goodness? Is it rectitude? Is it something we all share? If the latter, what might that be?

Footprints in the Windsm # 1765
Westward westward ever!
Clearing, fighting, taming, populating!
We came exploring
Young people doing young people things
For freedom religious and political
Creating something new and again new
Settlements soon cities
Fighting the indigenous
We stayed on and created industry mighty industry
Science, agriculture—O the huge farms!
Feeding the world
Our inventiveness and sweat youthful!
Sending our youth back across the eastern sea
To say “Bully!” and “Nuts!” to tyrants
Hoping idealistically to bring an end to war
And now a new frontier requiring daring…
Elders!
Please pass it on.

A molecule of holy
A molecule of mine
We dance!
We embody forth each other
Water on a hot griddle
We sizzle
We, we dance
:- Doug.
As body—we fall to pieces
As mist—we travel time
Our best legs are lighter than air
:- Doug.
We have a general direction of things to study, but I cannot know what we’ll learn.
