Elders are adept at finding the tune through notes heard as disparate, the threads between things we previously knew as separate.

The lights do not so much die as re-constellate. We can see this more clearly as we consciously gather our years and our circles of conversation, which are related.

Look for a new synthesis becoming clearer in your life. Transitions—little deaths and births—occur often as we age, and become more valuable if we reflect.

Tasks: Sustain, Nurture, Allow, Remind us that it will be alright, Return to mystery, Ask big questions, Council of elders, Seeing from the perspective of the whole….

It does not matter what the literature says or what I say: what can you say? You have a choice about how you will live your upcoming years. Here is the threshold: will you cross? Here is the open sky: will you go?

What ought this time of life be about? We have a choice dawning on our generation.

Less controlling
More allowing
—or is it noticing—
through:
through-ness of the world

Making notes engages
me into the life swirling around me
for this moment this day
tomorrow discover, note, again
the shadow whispers as it passes

Long lens focal distance
one’s field of view narrows
as through a tunnel
closer to the tunnel’s end
vista widens to panorama
so: as life span ahead shortens
one can compass ever more

Use your voice!
soft as whispering April rain
clear as a July thunder crash
