Let us stretch the elders to see a larger frame in space/time. In generations. In beings. Out.

Our view of eldering will not be broad enough to cover all its expanse; yet we can embrace any opening of our way.

:- Doug.

Attractive: this notion of retirement. On a deep personal level, too. But why? We grow tired. Of this work: done that. Our energy declines. Maybe the old pictures no longer fit: some relaxing, some playing, then you die. Now we have 20 years. Maybe we want for a second and third career. To engage more of ourselves. To be more alive. More giving. To grow.

Could our past history be affected by something that happens today? How might it?

Why are elders as they are, and how do they change? How are they changing?

:- Doug.

What light can you throw upon what it means to age well and to age for others?

Eldering is sometimes a mutual opening.

Every meeting is our opportunity to be touched by the spirit of life.

If your life represents continual growth, this stage is headed somewhere…good.

See: your life may have been a road of continual growth.

Elders have an appreciation for the uncontrollable—the big joke of life on us.

Elders are living beyond themselves, taking a role in making better the world.

Elder is calmer.

:- Doug.

You are here. You are the hand of God. You do the thing. Or withhold it.

God is our question
An ever present
“Your turn”

Friend, into your swirl of mist

You could die in the pursuit of eldering
perhaps that is a good choice

It’s more important you express
than I be right

Than everything
Takes a supreme act of courage.
Still,
It is easy
Like falling into bed
From a cliff.
