The wholesome, the putrid, all of life: this is what I am seeking to meet in all this poetry.

How does death, your death, confront you for the sake of life—how you live it today, how those ongoing depend on what you do?
:- Doug.
Do we stand in the breath of truth
in every dialogue
to bear or shrink from his wind?
:- Doug.
We shall not overcome
the tension of the opposing storms
rather work to being them to fruitfulness
:- Doug.
One tension of eldering is between playing and giving: taking pleasure and being with. We cannot merely dissolve the tension, for instance by playing with grandchildren, for the action can readily veer to mindless play or overt lessons: we must stay in both.

Danger there is in meeting another
Danger seek
Danger create
:- Doug.
God will not keep you safe
Nor you God
Each must cast each into the midst
