Communion is
what we have
what we are given
and thrust into in life
what we resist
and shrink from
and what gives us
back to life
in times of grief
and 9-11
and barn-raisings

caused and received
a necessary communion
is redemption
getting through
moving on
life restored

We mostly unconsciously
Only endure it

Soul—larger than just me
arising with the mists
over the waters
and the soil
beneath the waters
emerging: all creatures
enfolding: back again to soil

Inside each others’ minds
we live
The doctor
is not sure
sends us for a test
only again tomorrow
her attention comes back to us
still not clear
then another test
another waiting room
another waiting time
“We can’t be sure
We should watch”
The President
shows his power
(to speak not of his ego)
consternates the international scene
and ours at home
Our spouse
when unhappy, angry,
perturbed with us
or with anything
troubles our emotions
and concentration
We live within others’ minds
they in ours
Tread gently
