Know ourself
Know ourself: Go beyond “know thyself;” the singular is intentional: there seems to be a one made up of all of us, or at least larger than the sum of us.

A step toward putting them together: As teacher, I point out a possible trailhead—conversing—and some tools that might help in opening the path. Students working alone or in continuing conversation find or create ways to places further along.

There are no words adequate to express our feelings, only approximations and near misses. That’s why arguments, politics, and war. Those are why we must continue to converse—to find ways past arguments, politics, and war. The noble art. Every one an artist.

Teacher points out the trail head; student makes own trail.
It is a group thing. If I am correct, conversation is how we find our own depths. We invent together. Know together. Conscious.

What a shame if the world is static! We are gathering people to learn an unchanging lesson, to be each of them all the same. Movement and novelty are the hallmarks of life. Otherwise we live eternally depressed. Repressed.

If? When? we are challenged in our beliefs and worldviews, even these new challenges will be challenged. We come to stand on quaking erupting ground.

Each of us is the center of our own universe, and yet it is a universe—and each of the universes is part of the one universe. Relating—conversing—is the central activity of these universes and the universe. Change and stability flow through. This much change, this much stability, are necessary to this conversation-universe.

See here: we already see the world is composed of conversations. We just have called them by another name, one that limits how we see them: networks. Networks tend to be seen as two dimensional, with limited and fixed directionality. In reality the world is more than two dimensional; directionality is unlimited and organically growing, changing, dying, making liaisons, breaking them, and re-establishing them. Conversations and our horizons grow and all is color and fragrance and story.

These days we hold Newton
Accountable for detaching
Observer and observed
What does this say of
The East’s venerable detachment?
Is it good or not to be detached?
Is it possible? And why? For one?
