I talked with the guy I wanted to last evening, something kept him from going deeper. We are all afraid of the deeps. Before I can take another to the deeps, I need to hear him and her enough to find the light shining in them. This is subtle—because we have learned to hide it. Then I need to ask the question that invites this little thing out to play!

The shareholder is a construct in the minds of business executives. He or she does not exist; so neither does the patient, the child, the mother who is the source of their work. There is no meeting, no caring. Only credits in a bank ledger. The shareholder is a ghost; the patient has dematerialized; life has left the edifice.

Name my subject or find it
Invite it from the other

We stand on the borders
Wonder whether to enter
Life

We do not mix with God
Unlike oil and vinegar
We are same substance
We need not shake well
We dissolve in one another
:- Doug.
A higher conversation emerges
A higher us as well

A significant finding, is this “opening life between.” It is shorthand for Opening to the life flowing in the betweens.” And maybe more. Perhaps as Open living between. It packs in a lot. Nuances: the life is already there, we need only open to it. It lives, it flows, it is not an is, a noun, but action. It happens in the betweens of our presences: when presences mix, we are stirred. Maybe to conflict, maybe to imagination, maybe to fold our socks, maybe to speak truth to power.
:- Doug.
It is perhaps not in the between of us
Where we come to being
Rather the between of presences
:- Doug.
Opening life between is our human task.
:- Doug.
I don’t like conflict
But I gotta have it
Not because I want it
But because holding this tension is
Essential to life

We hope and act as if
everybody will always agree with us
and then we ourselves yell, Surprise!
This, this, conflict, conflict is human
So we are called to be humble
:- Doug.
When we are present, we become. We step into the circle, then we are, then we come into focus.

The Internet and all the video eyes around the world through which we see humanity in the act has taken our ability to see ourselves to a larger and more pervasive level. Thus we reflect. We see more. We see overview. We are on the verge of becoming homo sapiens sapiens sapiens.
:- Doug.
It is necessary to treat the dis- of the person’s ease or we get not through the day; it is necessary equally to meet the person or we and they are no longer alive, no longer human.

When we love we want to explore the texture and hues of the beloved, to take in this existence, clearly.

The reason I write so much is there are no words to say the thing.
:- Doug.
Words can lead us up to the window and then they stand in the way.
:- Doug.
Looking out the window I got a sense of the enormity and immediacy that is the all there is.

Get out of your head and into your feet!
:- Doug.
We are about trying to get clarity of our existence. The more clear, the more subtle and nuanced.
:- Doug.
Subtle and nuanced is loving the conversation.
