Parents, children and spouses can draw on their elemental togetherness.

I just discovered: I do not connect people because I am a connector, rather because I want to give. I see good everywhere, and want others to partake. This is conversation of the good variety: it is of the kind I espouse. It is not always pretty or comfortable. People—giving—our best selves to one another.

What are the parts of myself in need of transformation? Besides all! How can any of us know before it happens? Ought we more often suspend our certainty to allow?

It does not have to be true that the electronic conversation is contact without connection. Two scenarios: My parents die within 10 minutes of each other of separate heart attacks. In the raw moments of it all, I post on a computer forum of all places. I get back a flow of emotions and support over the wires that is palpable. The second is 9-11: the stories, ponderings and reflections we share allow people to touch each other’s pulse. I feel it keenly. So do many others. It takes self disclosure and the time to hear the persons in the other parts of the conversation. It is rare. It is possible.

There is what you saw, and what you think you saw. Two things, entangled hopefully.
