Footprints in the Windsm # 1259–individuals entangled

Footprints in the Windsm # 1259

Here is our complexity. We are woven together. Our roots are in this ball of earth, our wavy ends extend up and out and across and entangle with each other. We are individuals and yet there is this entangling going on: we need each other. What is that all about? More importantly, how do we make that work? In little and big ways: in families, in social, religious and work settings: how do we live together? How can we understand these things tugging apart and together at once, and how do we make that life-giving?

Bohm, seeing, knowing, and having legs

Bohm seems to be about correcting our seeing by getting thought out of seeing’s way. Many times professionals think that if people knew the “facts,” the theory, the overall picture, they would change what they do. Both assume that knowledge has the primary effect.

Perhaps life is more than this. Perhaps we need to actually attend the doing and the choosing of the doing.

Knowledge has the effect of freeing us, giving us choices. Yet we still need to hear the invitation and to feel the call. The brain needs legs and hands to start spinning and molding its world.

Have they forgotten…?

Yesterday they put Mom
in the nursing home
This morning dropped the kids
at the day care
Now they can get on with
their life
Have they forgotten their life
is Mom, is the kids?
Have they forgotten their life?

Off kilter

If you want to create something new it is important that you get it wrong, off kilter. This gives you new raw material to juxtapose and bounce.

Footprints in the Windsm # 1258

When life is going according to plan
Perhaps you’re not paying attention young one
For life wants to throw you a curve ball and see
What can you play and who can you be?
Who and how much larger than now?

Bohm and Germann on Dialogue

If Bohm uses dialogue to see more wholeness, I see conversation inventing more wholeness.

We are missing the connections

When we see “our” country separate from “theirs” we are missing the connections: we stand on the same planet, we share the same air and seas and blood, we come from the same stock, we even speak words and thoughts which we can translate from one to the other.

All good seeing is re-seeing:

Representation can be opened by respect. Presenting something again, in abstracted form, leaves out. Look again. All good seeing is re-seeing.

Not a problem: a paradox

Our tribe is not
A problem for solving
But a paradox
To be lived, loved,
Made ever more whole

O school days! O my teachers true!

O school days! O my teachers true!
The things I could not do without you!
I’d not be able to walk upstairs and down
Hold hands with my lover, look both ways
Before crossing a street, even think!
In my mother’s tongue, read—and write
Count change, pray, or know stories
Of my tribe, make peace, make love,
Give random kindness, love my parents,
sister, brother—Where would I be without?

Then there is also you, O unlimited human!
