the fly
The Spirit is the fly
Buzzing about your ear
Do you seek to swat it?
:- Doug.

There is an underlying crisis that informs all the others; once we address it, the others will be easier. We are paddling upstream so the going is slow. It is a crisis in meeting each other, making use of our unlimited resources of mind and energy.
We are at a choice point, a life or death crossroads, and giving together is one road, separating and dehumanizing is the other. I set before you life and death: choose life.
We do not really talk with one another, preferring talking at. We fear to open our hearts and minds and souls—someone might take advantage. Yes: us! We might be hurt. Of course we will. We will either way. The larger loss is a life not lived.
If we knead the leaven of conversation into our community, we rise.
If we turn the compost, the whole heap heats up, working.
If we allow ourselves to be heard, we work at our highest levels.
These are our together levels. Here we create, here we live, hear we love. Heard, we are.

The meeting has need of me. G*d has need of me. Same thing. On the other hand, sometimes I have need of sleep to fulfill these needs.
:- Doug.
We are enacting
The imagination of Life
The imagination of satiety
Is of Death and its Managers
We have chosen
& must keep on choosing
The imagination of Life
:- Doug.
Do the work of imagination:
Meet
Insight arises
& with it, Work
Newing

What is life about? Ahh! It is simply loving—loving the incompleteness into wholeness. Loving toward wholeness, toward engagement, toward passion. Loving the developing, the trying, the effort. There is no do, only try (sorry, Yoda, you had it backwards).
Please pass it on.

Meet those on the margins: there are so many of us and so hungry to be met that the unimaginable is possible and even likely!
Therefore, if we, or even I, start meeting those on the margins, then becomes possible a turning.
:- Doug.
In meeting I am giving up my little notions of self into a larger soup, a bubbling roiling cauldron of creating and birthing persons. So it is not giving up any real thing, and it is meeting and emerging something huge—persons, us, world. Thus: Meet often: more become.
:- Doug.
We are doing work when we converse—the work of making each other, us, and our environment.
We are constituting in languaging, continuously becoming, forging, growing, manipulating, creating. We are creating each other and us and that is our prime environment. If we have to leave this planet and find another and take a pledge to treat the new one better, it is the us who is the constant, the between. And when the next to last person on earth dies, so does the last.
:- Doug.
There is a wall
The Mayor’s not here
We say
We cannot do without the Mayor
The Mayor asks
How can we get the people
We cannot do without the people
:- Doug.
Give me my name
Until your lips say my name
Even if you say it wrong
I know
I do not exist
I am not
For you
So for us and for now
I am not
We are not
But when I give you your name
And you give me mine
We are
You and I and
The between
Are
And
Are possible
When we are meeting
We are becoming
Give me my name
And we’ll give us ours
We are, in
In our words—
In our glance—
Caught
In that catching
Is acting
Being and doing are one
Because you
Give me my name
Give me my name
When we meet
Give me my names
Boring, exciting, evocative,
Provocative, excitable, quiet
Shy, receptive, domineering
If you name me not
I am not here
I shrivel, I die
I am not
But O! When you
Give me my name
I am, I fly, I become
I do

Fairs & booths, speaking heads & panels of activists are essentially unsatisfying. They attract people out of curiosity, to pass information along. But they do not engage because they do not exact a price. Watching is not doing. Observing does little to foster ownership. If you want active people you must turn the movement over to them, ask them to take responsibility. You lose control. You gain friends. You gain reach, creativity, effectiveness.
