Some will say this is too sweet
Some will say this is too sweet, too emotional, too impractical. Practical in our society means What’s in it for me. But is it all about “me?” No, emphatically no! Life is about other people and community—there are no true hermits—everybody needs other people. We come together—this is the lesson of history. This is our story. Families, tribes, nations, associations: ever we seek to come together. It is not about what we can get from the other, for if we do kill the competition, we have also killed our customers and we are not far behind. It is about working together to meet the needs of all. Even competition helps in this endeavor, if not well. Slavery helps, but not for long. We must get on the right trail, seeking the good of all.

Doing gets us outside our heads. Doing most often involves other people. Doing leads to meeting. Doing is loving. A circle and a respiration.

self-centered or whole-working: do we choose?
No! for our culture blinds us to our choice
to engage ourselves openly and publicly for our
mutual good and
the good of the seventh generation of
our grandchildren

We do this work because there is always the possibility that the world might change.

What if we could get families to talk about meaningful things? About changing the world?

Success is in terms not of others changed but in sincere effort made.
This the Bible teaches. It is not about giving or even loving G*d, but about being next to G*d’s heart: engaging fully the world.
